We have begun working on our Report/Informational Writing Standard.
You may have noticed a sudden interest in Non-Fiction books! The kids
have been exploring Non-Fiction texts to look for features of print like
labels, headings, table of contents, diagrams, real photographs, etc.
On Tuesday, we took it further by discussing how authors use headings to
organize all of the facts that they know about something. The kids will
also be using headings and other features of print in their report
booklets!
Our group activity was to sort various facts into
headings. The kids had so much fun and they are looking forward to
starting their booklets on Monday. Please encourage your child to check
out Non-Fiction books from the library. I know a lot of my boys are
loving my Outer Space books in class and the girls are loving animal
books.
