Close Reading: Geysers

We have been learning about volcanoes and geysers in our new Reading Module. Today, students worked with partners to read a passage about geysers and highlight words that they didn't know the meaning to. Then, they had to discuss the word with their partner and try to use context clues to write a synonym for the word. Make sure to use this strategy when you are listening to your child read each night. Ask questions like, "was there a word that you didn't know the meaning to?" "What do you think it means?" Help them try to figure out the meaning of those unknown words.

Children around the World

We learned so much about different cultures and traditions when the students shared their "Children around the World" projects. They all did such a wonderful job. Thank you parents for working with your child on these amazing projects!

Phases of the moon with Oreos!

We finished up our unit on Astronomy last week and did a fun activity to celebrate! The kids enjoyed licking the cream in their Oreos to make the different phases of the moon.
