1st grade performs at Flag Raising

Book of the Month: Unspoken

Alimcani's Book of the Month this month is the wordless picture book, Unspoken by Henry Cole. It is a story from the Underground Railroad. The kids really enjoyed looking through the book and inferring what was happening in the story. It is a very high level skill for first graders to be able to infer from the clues in the pictures and their prior knowledge to tell the story. I was very impressed! We have been reading a lot about the underground railroad this month and learning about important people like Harriet Tubman.
